Nue (鵺) is the final addition to the Toboetsuki Crew (at least for a few years). Born on 15th February to mum, Satsuki, and dad, Naisho - a handsome brindle Hokkaido from Germany. Though this pairing had a wide range of possible colours, Satsuki decided the world did not have enough black and tan Hokkaido, so she gave us two more! Nue is actually brindle-pointed, which means the parts of his coat which would normally appear tan are actually brindle! He is the largest puppy we have ever had born here, weighing a huge 348g at birth.
Nue was named after the mythical creature 'Nue', one of the oldest known legendary Yõkai of Japan. Nue was a creature of disaster - a chimera with the head of a monkey, the limbs of a tiger, the body of a tanuki and the front half of a snake for a tail - only seen in black-clouded skies. Hopefully his appearance here is a little less calamitous!
Though Nue was quite confident in his early weeks, as is common, he became a little more shy and wary as his sister Kira took on the more confident role. He is a happy puppy, who, like Chuuya, loves the sound of his own voice.
We hope that Nue will follow in the footsteps of his mum, Satsuki, and become a wonderful breed ambassador to join us at our events. We also hope that he will be able to join his uncle Chuuya, to strut his stuff around the show rings in Europe.
More coming soon as Nue grows...
